We know that eating well directly affects a patient’s ability to maintain and progress in both physical and medical rehabilitation. Patients on special therapeutic diets enjoy true “home cooking,” since Lakeview takes pride in our attention to detail for those with strict dietary limitations. We serve delicious, appetizing meals with a restaurant-like ambiance to give residents something special to look forward to at meal time. Speech pathologists also bring about progress for patients with swallowing difficulties following an illness or injury. We also carefully monitor your intake and food tolerances. When you’re ready for discharge, our team teaches you and your family how to adhere to therapeutic diets and understand drug/nutrition interactions.

Dietary Department

Our Dietary Department features two full-time registered dietitians. Specialized therapeutic diets are assessed on an individual basis and diet education is provided, with printed materials available upon request. A weaning program for both enternal nutrition support (tube feeding) and thickened liquids is monitored by our dietitians in conjunction with our Speech and Language Pathologists for improved quality of life. Additionally, our facility also offers a Bariatric Education Program, supervised by our dietitians and certified personal trainer.

Our Dietary Department offers three menu choices per meal, including vegetarian diet and honors individual food preferences. Kosher meals are also available upon request. All of our cooking and baking is done on premises and we utilize our own fresh herb garden.

We also host seasonal, in-house candlelight dinners and special holiday meals and encourage families and friends to join us for this unique dining experience. At Lakeview, the "dietary department" never sleeps, snacks are available 24 hours a day. We look forward to serving you in the future.
